Who we are
Thapki is an app for looking after pets as a family, made in India by Gaurav Mittal (developer name on Google Play: mayalab), who is the Data Fiduciary for the purposes of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). Contact: hello@thapki.app.
What we collect, and why

We do not collect your location, contacts, call logs, SMS, or advertising identifiers. We do not use analytics unless you turn on "Anonymous usage stats" in the app.
Reading vet papers with AI
When you add a vet paper, the image is sent to Anthropic's Claude service to read the details (vaccine names, dates, medicines). Thapki shows you what was read, marks anything uncertain, and saves nothing until you confirm it. Anthropic processes the image only to provide this service and does not use it to train its models. Please check what was read against the paper; it can make mistakes, and it is not a substitute for your vet's advice.
Who can see your information
- Your Care Circle: the family members you invite can see your pets, their records, tasks and who did what. You can remove members, and anyone can leave.
- People you choose to share with: when you share a PDF record with a vet or sitter.
- Our service providers, who process data for us under contract and only on our instructions: Supabase (database, file storage and sign-in; data stored in Mumbai, India), Google Firebase (delivering reminders and crash reports), and Anthropic (reading vet papers).
- The law: if we are legally required to, for example by a court order.
We never sell your personal data or share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your sign-in, profile and privacy choices, and every Care Circle where you are the only member, with all its pets, records and vet papers. Circles you share with family stay with them. Deletion is immediate in most cases and complete within 30 days, including backups.
Your rights
Under the DPDP Act and other applicable laws you can ask to access, correct or erase your personal data, withdraw consent, and nominate someone to exercise your rights if you cannot. Most of this you can do in the app (edit details, remove records, You → Delete account). For anything else, write to hello@thapki.app; we reply within 7 days and resolve within 30. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Access is enforced by row-level security in the database, so each person can only reach the Care Circles they belong to. Vet papers and pet photos are stored privately and shown only through short-lived links.
Children
Thapki is meant for adults. If you are under 18, please use it with a parent or guardian, who should create the account.
This website
thapki.app does not use cookies, analytics or trackers. It is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may keep your IP address in its logs for security, under GitHub's privacy statement. If you email us, we use your message only to reply and to add you to early access if you ask.
Changes
If we change this notice in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect and ask again where the law requires.
