Why Thapki exists
Thapki began with one Labrador, Auggie, and a family trying to look after him well. Almost every part of the app started as a problem we had with him.
Auggie, and the questions that kept coming
Auggie is a Labrador: friendly with everyone, always hungry, and loved by the whole family. That love was also the problem. Everyone helped, and nobody was quite sure who had done what.
“Did anyone feed him?”
Some days he was fed twice, some days his medicine was missed, because each of us thought someone else had done it.
In Thapki: one list for the whole family. Whoever feeds him or gives the medicine taps once, and everyone sees who did it and when.
“Where's his vaccine card?”
His vaccination card lived in a drawer, and we only remembered it when a vet or a boarding asked for it.
In Thapki: snap the card once. Thapki reads it, keeps it with his record, and reminds the family before the next dose is due.
“Can he eat this?”
Labradors will eat almost anything, and every relative had a treat for him. We kept searching whether grapes, mango or a piece of roti were safe.
In Thapki: a checked list of everyday Indian foods, and the family's treats add up in one place, so nobody overfeeds him out of kindness.
“Is this normal, or do we go now?”
When his tummy was upset at night, we didn't know whether to wait until morning or rush to a clinic.
In Thapki: a tummy diary that notices when soft days repeat, and plain signs for when to call the vet, with clinics open now.
“Was that bill fair?”
After a vet visit we had no idea whether the bill was usual for our area.
In Thapki: Bill Check compares each line with what families nearby paid, and ratings come only from people who uploaded a bill.
What we believe
- Calm, not scary. Clear answers and simple next steps, never alarm for its own sake.
- Your vet comes first. Thapki never diagnoses an illness or suggests a medicine or dose. It tells you plainly when it's time to call the vet.
- The whole family, together. Parents, children, didi, a walker or a sitter: everyone who cares for your pet sees the same day.
- Made for Indian homes. Hindi and English, patchy internet, home food, local rules and low-cost government clinics.
- Free, and private. No ads. Only the people you invite see your pet's records. Read our privacy notice.
How we make our guides
